When we talk about the root canal recovery, the first thing that strikes our mind is the debt which has been left behind. It is indeed a difficult experience for everyone to undergo but at the same time it is not the end of the world. It is possible that the debt has gone unnoticed and you have continued to live your life without any awareness of that small bump or hole on your tooth. However, in the present times when people are more concerned about their looks and appearances then most certainly you would be interested in knowing more about root canal recovery time off work. In fact, these days' dent experts are well aware of the fact that this is one of the major things that need to be considered and that it should not be taken lightly.

Generally the dentists perform these canal treatments with the help of instruments and tools which are used with sterilization techniques. Root canal is the process of cleaning out all the bacteria, viruses and other foreign particles that have got accumulated in the hard to reach places within your teeth and also in the roots and cavities. Usually this process of cleaning goes on in one or more root areas of your teeth. It is mainly the dentist who would perform this task and they would either do the whole canal treatment or just concentrate on a particular area.

In case if the tooth has been damaged severely then it becomes almost impossible for the dentist to carry out root canal recovery on that particular tooth. In such cases they might advise the patient to look out for any sort of extraction that might be done. In most of the cases, especially those which have been damaged severely, the tooth would have to be extracted by the root canal specialist. This process is performed with the help of anesthetic and sedation, which are provided by the dentist. The dentist would also advise you regarding the post-treatment oral care, which would include maintaining proper oral hygiene.

While going through with the extraction procedure your teeth will be held by the dentist for about an hour. This will be followed by disinfection of the extraction site. It is after this period that the dentist would advise you regarding further steps which should be taken for ensuring that you do not suffer any kind of pain or irritation as a result of the dental procedure. These would include taking some painkillers that your doctor would either prescribe or give you to take with yourself to ensure that you are not affected by any pain during the entire procedure.

On the whole, you will be advised to rinse your mouth thoroughly with water and brush your teeth gently. This should be followed by disinfecting the wound and the gum with an antibacterial solution. This needs to be done in the dentist's office that is separate from the rest of the clinic. Your mouth would be wrapped in bandages and you would be asked to refrain from eating anything for a period of time. You would also be told not to smoke or drink anything that would prevent you from breathing.

Once all these preparations have been made then you would be taken to the dentist's surgery where the root canal procedure would take place. The entire operation is carried out very quickly and you will not have to spend any longer than 10 minutes in the chair. Once the dentist opens your tooth, he will remove the filled root canal and clean it off. Then he will put disinfectant on the wound and then he would ask you to get into the chair and close your eyes tightly for about a minute so that he can start the root canal treatment.
